About Journal: The international scientific-theoretical journal

The Problems of Oriental Philosophy, issued by the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Philosophy and Law, and the editorial staff of the journal, was established by the decision of the scientific-theoretical conference (Baku, 1992) on the methodological problems of Eastern philosophy.

 

The journal The Problems of Oriental Philosophy is the first international scientific-theoretical journal by this title, content and structure dedicated to philosophy.The idea of creating the journal, its name and concept belong to its editor-in-chief, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences Z.Guluzadeh.

 

The Association Elm was one of the founders of the first issues of the publication, and since 1996 it has been released once a year in 3 languages: Azerbaijani and Russian and English together with the summaries in Arabic, Persian, Turkish, English, German and French.

 

The journal has been widely disseminated in the realm of science of the Republic, and is sent by the Scientific Library of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences to the famous libraries of East and West.Problems of Oriental Philosophy is an annual peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

 

It covers philosophical problems of Eastern philosophy. It is published in Russian and Azerbaijani with abstracts in English, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, French and German. The editor-in-chief is Zumrud Kuluzade. The journal was established in 1996. The journal occasionally publishes special issues.

 

Instructions For Authors: The journal holds a special place in the study and teaching of the regional philosophy in the context of the world philosophy. The materials of the national and international scientific and theoretical conferences and seminars initiated by the journal in the Republic are reflected in its site. The articles of the outstanding scholars of the Near and Middle Eastern countries along with those of the Azerbaijani scholars are published on the pages of the journal, and the range of these relations is expanding day by day. It is desirable that your articles and other written materials correspond to the mission and the bank of problems as published in the first issue of the journal (1996). 

 

A complete submission includes the following elements. Submitted manuscripts should conform to the guidelines found in the MLA (Modern Language Association) Style Manual. Helpful guides to the use of the MLA Style Manual are provided below.

TITLE - Do not underline, italicize, or place your title in quotation marks; write the title in Title Case (standard capitalization), not in all capital letters.

NAME AND PROFESSIONAL ADDRESS -Together with the manuscript, the authors must send their actual professional address and the e-mail address.

ABSTRACT - An abstract in English of no more than 200 words.

KEYWORDS - Include 5-7 words in English.

TEXT - The manuscript cannot be longer than 8000 words. The manuscript should be typed and single-spaced in A4 format, Garamond style 15 (if possible). Emphasizing italics are not to be used excessively. Bold type is not used anywhere in an article. Use italics for the title of the work and, only when is absolutely necessary, providing emphasis.
In-text citations: any source information that you provide in-text must correspond to the source information on the References page. The author's last name, year and the page number(s) from which the quotation or paraphrase is taken must appear in the text, and a complete reference should appear on your References page. Do not include URLs in-text. Only provide partial URLs such as when the name of the site includes a domain.
Multiple citations. To cite multiple sources in the same parenthetical reference, separate the citations by a semi-colon. Quoted material, translations and page references must be exact. For short quotations enclose the quotation within double quotation marks. The extended quotations (40+ words) are displayed (with left indentation).

ENDNOTES - The manuscripts must include references and/or endnotes, not footnotes. All cited authors must be included in references and/or endnotes. Notes are always endnotes. Short references should be included in the text of articles and not put in endnotes. Use the endnotes as bibliographical notes, which refer to other publications your readers may consult or as explanatory notes (content notes), which refers to brief additional information that might be too digressive for the main text.

WORKS CITED - One author: Lastname, Firstname. Title. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication. 
Two authors: Lastname, Firstname, and Firstname Lastname. Title. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication.
More than three authors: Lastname, Firstname, et. al. Title. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication.
Chapter in collective work: Lastname, Firstname. “Title of chapter.” Title of Book, Collection. Ed. Editor’s Name(s). Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication. Page range of entry.
Article: Lastname, Firstname. “Title of article.” Title of Journal, Volume. Issue (Year): pages.
Web entries must follow a similar format. Lastname, Firstname. “Title of article.” Title of Journal, Volume. Issue (Year): pages. Medium of Publication. Day month year.

 

At the beginning of the original essays submitted to JOPh Journal for being published, there must be included, both in Azerbaijanian, Russian and in English, an at least 100-word and at most 150-word Abstract , Keywords consisting of 3 to 5 words and the Title. The abstracts (Arabic, Persian, Turkish, English, German and French), including the key words, should be typed 1 cm indented on each side. At the end of the text, a list of the sources used in the text should be given under the title

REFERENCES - In this list of references used in the text, the names of authors are given in alphabetical order of names of the authors. The manuscripts should not include headers, footers or page numbers. For the studies in which a special font type that is not included in Microsoft Word program is used, the font file should also be submitted to the system together with the essay.The manuscripts to be submitted to the system should be formatted by the author based on the following criteria:

 
Paper feed: A4 Vertical (No horizontal lines should be included in the essay) Top margin: 3 cm, Bottom Margin: 3 cm, Left Margin: 3 cm, Right Margin: 3 cm, Font Type: Times New Roman, Font Size: 12-point for the title, 11 for the text, 10 for the abstracts and 9 for the footnotes, Paragraph Spacing: First 6 nk – then 0 nk, Paragraph Indent: 1 cm First Line in the text, 0.4 cm Hanging for footnotes, Line Spacing: 1.15 for the text, single for footnotes. Manuscripts that do not conform in any way to the Publication Principles of JOPh Journal will not be taken into consideration. The journal receives written materials like scientific, critical articles, comments, information, opinions, and announcements. The articles are written in Microsoft Word (with line spacing - 1.5, margins:  left – 3 cm, right – 1 cm, top and bottom – 2 cm) and may consist of 10-15 pages.

The journal will not be responsible for the content of a manuscript should there be a claim for compensation.
Submitted manuscripts are reviewed by two outside reviewers in a double-blind peer review process that can 2-3 months (more in some cases). The editors may ask for revision and may require reformatting of accepted manuscripts. The editors may also alter manuscripts where necessary to make them conform to the journal’s style.
Before a manuscript is published, the corresponding or primary author must review and approve page proofs of the manuscript. (Authors will be contacted by e-mail when their proofs are available in PDF format for download.) Authors are responsible for checking their proofs for accuracy and for clearly marking any corrections on the proofs. Only major errors can be corrected at the proof stage. The journal is not responsible for data or text errors that are not corrected by authors on their proofs. Failure to return proofs promptly, as outlined in instructions provided with the proofs, may delay publication of the manuscript.
As a condition of publication, authors must transfer copyright to JOPH Journal: International Journal of Problems of Oriental Philosophy. Manuscripts submitted under multiple authorship are reviewed on the assumption that all listed authors concur in the submission and agree on the final version to be published.
